Have you ever thought of applying okra to your hair?, you would finally do so after reading this article.
Let me tell you a short story..
One faithful day, I was wondering if you can use flax seeds as a gel, why can't okra be used too after all, okra is slimy and its odour is mild. Well, some days later, a notification from one of my favourite natural hair YouTuber popped up which was titled “benefits of okra to the hair” this made me so glad because I was thinking rightly and that is why I decided to write about Okra.
Okra is a vegetable. It is loved by a few and disliked by many. It can be eaten raw or prepared in different ways.
Okra contains vitamin A, vitamin B complex, vitamin E, vitamin K and minerals such as Calcium, Iron,Magnesium and Zinc.
Okra is a good moisturizer and its slip makes it a very good hair detangler.
BENEFITS OF OKRA
• It moisturizes dry and itchy scalp.
• It gives the hair a beautiful shine.
• It gives the hair a nice softness.
• It is a good detangler.
• It fights dandruff.
• It doesn't flake or build up.
• It can be used to make a juicy two strand twist.
• It conditions the hair.
HOW TO PREPARE OKRA GEL/CONDITIONER
Ingredients
• Get enough okra
• Water
• Any oil of your choice(Optional)
Procedures.
• Thoroughly wash the okra under running water.
• Cut into smaller pieces.
• Put the okra and water into a pot and bring to a boil. Keep on adding water to the okra to meet your desired consistency.
• After 10-15 minutes remove the mixture from the heat and allow to cool down
• Sieve the okra, to separate the seeds and shaft from the liquid.
• And your oil of choice and Boom!! It is ready.
Application
After shampooing and conditioning your hair. Partially dry your hair with a T-shirt, then apply the okra mixture.
Cover your hair with a shower cap for 20-40 minutes.
After the required time, rinse the okra off.
